I won't lie to you all, I was expecting to have a bad time with this film after seeing early reviews but I had a great time. You can defiantly tell Chris Rock has a lot of passion for this franchise. While this is far from the traditional formula of the Saw Franchise, it is a breath of fresh air that brings new life to the series after 2017's dud with Jigsaw.
The focus of this film is taken away from the killer and put onto the mystery of the investigation, which I think was a great move. The traps are few and far between but what we do get is super original visceral to watch.
My only complaint is our new Hacksaw's voice. It is too high pitched and it makes me laugh every time I hear it. I do miss Billy though. He's my favorite horror icon, but that is a sacrifice that had to be made.
Spiral is one of few of the franchises that I would say rivals the original in quality.
